Visual Storytelling

Hospitality is more than beautiful spaces, and architecture is more than beautiful design. Every memorable place is shaped by the harmony between people, light and place. My work is to reveal that story with honesty, sensitivity and intention

About

I’m Alain Alaily, a Swiss-Canadian photographer with Egyptian roots, based in Marbella, Spain. My work brings together more than twenty years in luxury hospitality with a background in reportage photography, giving me a unique perspective on how exceptional guest experiences are created—and how they can be translated into authentic visual stories. After studying photography at Nottingham Trent University, I built my career as a Swiss-trained chef, entrepreneur and hospitality professional. As co-owner of Venus Sophia Tearoom in Victoria, Canada, our work was featured in Condé Nast Traveller and The New York Times and recognised as Victoria’s Best Afternoon Tea.Today I collaborate with luxury hotels, restaurants, travel destinations and lifestyle brands to create timeless imagery guided by natural light, atmosphere and genuine human connection.

Photographic Vision

I photograph places the way they are remembered—not simply the way they look. Through natural light, thoughtful composition and genuine human connection, I create imagery that builds trust, evokes emotion and invites people to experience a destination.

Hospitality is a Feeling

The most memorable places are rarely defined by architecture alone. They are remembered for how they make us feel.A warm welcome. A lingering conversation over coffee, Prosecco, sweets and treats. Laughter shared around a table. A quiet moment beneath the shade on a summer afternoon at a welcoming chiringuito, savouring a beautifully prepared meal while being cared for by a soulful host. These are the moments I am drawn to photograph. My work celebrates hospitality as a human experience, revealing the atmosphere, care, and authenticity that transform beautiful spaces into places people long to return to. Through thoughtful imagery, I seek to capture not only what a place looks like, but what it feels like—reflecting the true soul of your hospitality.

A Defining Chapter

One of the formative chapters in my culinary journey was serving as Chef de Cuisine under two-Michelin-starred chef Sergi Arola at Eat-Hola, within the five-star W Verbier in Switzerland. It was an extraordinary opportunity to work alongside one of Spain’s most creative culinary minds, refining not only my technical skills but also my understanding of flavour, composition and the art of storytelling through food. Those years deepened my appreciation for thoughtful plating, creative vision and the emotional power of a well-crafted dining experience. The lessons I learned in that kitchen continue to shape my photography today—guiding how I compose light, atmosphere and detail to tell authentic stories for luxury hospitality brands.I remain deeply grateful for the trust, mentorship and inspiration that defined that chapter of my career

Architectural Eye

An eye for architecture has always been part of how I experience the world. Drawn to both interiors and exteriors, I find inspiration in beautiful, sensuous spaces where design, light, texture, and proportion come together effortlessly.I am especially fascinated by the way light moves through a space, shaping atmosphere and revealing the subtle details that make a place feel warm, welcoming, and timeless.

Hospitality is above all People

My time as Chef de Cuisine at Idéal 1850, overlooking the majestic Mont Blanc, reinforced one of the most enduring lessons of my career: true hospitality begins and ends with people. At Four Seasons, this philosophy is embodied in the Golden Rule: Treat others as you would wish to be treated. To me, this simple principle is what separates service from genuine hospitality. It is the difference between an experience that feels efficient and one that feels deeply personal—where every interaction is guided by warmth, care, generosity and authenticity.Hospitality, however, is never created by people or places alone. It is born from the harmony between those who welcome and the spaces that embrace. Thoughtful architecture, refined interiors and natural light create the setting, while the people within them give those spaces meaning.Whether behind the pass or behind the camera, I am naturally drawn to the people who embody this spirit. The chefs who cook with purpose and heart. The bartender who remembers your favourite drink. The receptionist whose welcome instantly puts you at ease. The housekeeper who notices the smallest details. The server who turns a meal into a lasting memory. These are the people I love to photograph.Because while architecture, design and cuisine may first draw us in, it is people who give a place its soul. They transform beautiful spaces into places of comfort, connection and belonging. Together, the harmony between people and place becomes the truest expression of a hospitality brand—and the story I seek to capture through my photography.

Luxury Real Estate

To me, luxury real estate and luxury hospitality speak the same language. They share a common DNA: timeless architecture, thoughtful design, harmonious spaces, and an atmosphere that makes people feel instantly at home.My approach is to reveal the soul of a place in its most authentic form. With a keen eye for hospitality, architecture and natural light, I capture both interiors and exteriors in a way that celebrates their character, elegance and sense of place.
